Replikate Review: the search for the perfect Tod's D-bag replikate

Although I love the clutches Kate uses (Stuart Weitzman's Muse clutch, the L.K. Bennett Natalie clutch etc.), they are not very practical for everyday life. But there is one bag of Kate that is VERY practical and I have been in love with that one ever since I saw it: her grey leather D-bag from Tod's. Unfortunately, it turned out to be very hard to find a decent and affordable replikate (since I can in no way pay for the original). Luckily, after months of searching, one savvy Tatiana's Delights Facebook follower pointed me to a great one on Ebay:

The bag sells for $31.62 plus shipping (which was, in my case to Europe, another $32), and is made of real leather. The size of the bag is 39 x 16 cm 25 cm and it comes with a detachable long shoulder strap. 

Of the four colours available (red, grey, beige and black) they grey is the most similar to Kate's original Tod's bag. Unfortunateluy, when I received the bag, it turned out to be much less grey than I thought it would be. It's really more of a cream nude-ish grey, and the seams are a lot more contrasting in colour compared to the bag Kate uses. 

Apart from the colour difference, the bag is great though! I have been using it frequently for over a month now (including during my trip to Kuwait), and no stains or scuff marks at all! So nothing wrong with the durability of the bag I think. Also, the gold metallic detailing (zippers, protective caps at the bottom etc.) doesn't look cheap. 

The verdict: not the same medium grey colour as Kate's Tod's D-bag, but a great alternative nonetheless, especially considering the low price (and that for a real leather bag!).
