Jacket: H&M Conscious / Sweater: Banana Republic / Jeans: H&M / Boots: Dune London Cap: H&M / Gloves: H&M / Bag: Modalu England / Earrings: eBay Happy (Black) Friday everyone! I just wanted to wish all my American readers a belated happy Thanksgiving! I hope you ate lots of delicious food and had lots and lots to be thankful for!
No Thanksgiving here in Holland of course, but only a week or so until Sinterklaas! As we don't have any small children anymore in our family we won't be really celibrating Sinterklaas this year. But maybe I'll just eat some (or a lot) kruidnoten and of course a T-shaped chocolate letter ;-) Unfortunately this year the whole celebration is overshadowed again with the whole debate about Zwarte Piet. If you'd like to learn more about Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet, don't forget to read last year's blog post! Anyway, back to my outfit! During my recent trip to Poland, I was very fortunate with the weather, although it was pretty cold. When visiting the Warsaw Uprising Museum I decided to ditch my new bulky padded winter coat from Zara and layer up instead. The black boots from Dune London are definitely my go-to footwear this winter! They are warm, sturdy and basically go with everything. If you are looking for some great-quality chunky knit sweaters, Banana Republic has some great options at the moment. I recently bought two, and I am wearing one of them here. Be aware though that they run big! I also think that H&M is really upping their game recently with a nice collection of good-quality affordable basics, like my current woollen gloves and chunky knit cap, so don't forget to check them out if you want to stock up on nice winter accessories! I love dressing for winter! :-D

Hello again! I have been a bit quiet lately, I know. Sorry about that! The last few weeks have been quite busy with a lot of study-related obligations. Doing an LL.M program takes a lot more time than I imagined :-S
Apart from that, my parents had to let go their cat Chagall after a long period of illness. Luckily he was already quite old, almost 17 years, but I knew him since I was ten, so after he was gone I didn't really have much blog-inspiration for a while :-( Fortunately it is not all bad news though! Last weekend I went on a short citytrip to the city of Warsaw in Poland, which was a lot of fun (read all about it in tomorrow's post), and of course Christmas is coming up! No Thanksgiving for me I am afraid, as I am not American, so I already have been focussing on Christmas for a few weeks already :-P Last week I already saw a lot of holiday gift guides on other blogs. I always love checking these out, but unfortunately a lot of the gift suggestions in those guides are way too expensive and therefore not really suitable as a gift (unless you are a millionaire of course). As I am still a student, expensive gifts for my loved ones are not really an option, but that does not mean that you can't give something really great! I love to figure out that one (affordable) thing that is just right for that particular person. Something that they will actually really enjoy. So, to make life easier for you guys, I thought I'd share the results of all my online window shopping in a few holiday gift guides of myself! My personal favorites of this post are numbers 1, 2 and 10 of this post (God, I am totally in need of number 2!). And last, but not least: I would love to hear what is on your wishlist this year! Don't forget to share it in the comments below! Sometimes you encounter a coat, that is just perfect in every way... And the Duchess of Cambridge has a particular knack for finding those. I totally fell in love with the Black Watch tartan one by Alexander McQueen, and then again with the dark green 'Angel' coat from Reiss. And now she's done it again, with this gorgeous baby blue coat by Matthew Williamson (btw, she has been wearing baby blue two times in a row now, is she trying to tell us something? ;-) ). It just looks so comfy and chic at the same time! Looking at Kate's gorgeous coat reminded me that a pastel coat is at the top of my WWW (Winter Wardrobe Wishlist), and it should be on yours as well. I mean, seriously, how much brighter would those dark winter days be if everyone wore soft pinks, greens and blues instead of black, grey and navy?! Below you can find a few of my favourites available at the moment (several of them are available in other colours as well). So, what if your approach to winter pastels? Absolute yay, or a no-go?
P.S. If you are looking for a good RepliKate of Kate's blue Matthew Williamson coat, ASOS has one that is very similar. A custom made one from the Tatiana's Delights Etsy shop is of course also possible. In that case, be sure to send me a message via Etsy regarding a custom listing! |
